12557 MAQ (Image) BRAZIL (1950s) Trees*. Preliminary sketch of design in pen and ink on graph paper, 210mm x 164 mm, signed by the artist Ludwig Hesshaimer, showing trees beside a rocky shore. Hesshaimer (1872-1956) was responsible for the design of stamps in Liechtenstein, Iceland, Austria, Hungary and Colombia. He moved to Brazil in 1950, where he produced this last set of designs for his own use. Fantastic and unique exhibition item!

Hesshaimer (1872-1956) was responsible for the design of stamps in Liechtenstein, Iceland, Austria, Hungary and Colombia. He moved to Brazil in 1950, where he produced these designs for his own use.
